About Lucente Technology

Lucente Technology is a Perth-headquartered managed IT, cybersecurity and AI enablement business, built for small and medium WA organisations. We operate as a genuine technology partner to our customers rather than a ticket queue. Alongside the core IT and security work, we have a strong focus on purpose-built software, fractional CIO and CTO advisory, and putting AI to work inside our customers' businesses.

Our operating model is simple. Advise. Enable. Support. We invest the time to genuinely learn our customers' businesses, we give honest advice on what to fix and what to leave alone, and we get stuff done.

We work across five areas: Managed IT, Cybersecurity, AI Enablement, Purpose-Built Software and IT Projects. We are led by a founder with 20+ years of executive technology leadership, and we are a small, senior team where everyone rolls up their sleeves.

The role

You will be one of our first hires: a technology generalist who enjoys varied and challenging work, operating across our customers' environments from everyday support through to small projects you plan and run yourself.

You will work across Level 1 to Level 3, a mix of support and project work. Some days that means solving a quick problem for a customer. Other days it means designing and delivering a piece of infrastructure or a security improvement. No job is too small, and the interesting ones are yours to own.

Automation sits at the front of how we work. We are AI-enabled, not AI-flavoured, which means we build good habits and modern tooling into the way we deliver, and we expect you to bring ideas for doing things better.

What the work looks like

A realistic mix of what you might do in a fortnight:

  • Deploy a new firewall for a customer and document it properly.
  • Set up and hand over a new laptop so it just works on day one.
  • Improve a customer's Microsoft 365 security posture.
  • Migrate a customer from Mimecast to Microsoft 365 email security.
  • Plan and execute a file server to SharePoint migration, in the right order, on your own steam.
  • Help a customer through an Outlook issue with patience and clarity.

You will be on customer sites regularly, so you will see the impact of your work first-hand and build real relationships.

Who this suits

You will do well here if you are:

  • A strong problem solver who knows how to research, and knows when to ask for help.
  • Comfortable and confident in front of customers.
  • A good communicator who can explain technology clearly, in writing and in person.
  • Able to plan and execute your own work in the right order on small projects.
  • Genuinely interested in learning and continuous improvement.
  • Happy working across Level 1 to Level 3, where no job is too small.

You do not need to be an expert in every tool or tech stack. We care more that you have the right ingredients: curiosity, judgement, ownership and a good manner with people. That said, we place real value on time spent inside an internal IT department, or at an IT services or managed service provider, where you have supported real users and real infrastructure. Experience across any of Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, desktops and networking, plus firewalls and network hardware such as Fortinet, Ubiquiti and Extreme, will help you hit the ground running. Relevant certifications or a tertiary IT qualification, for example Microsoft, CompTIA, or an IT diploma or degree, are highly regarded but not essential.

What Lucente offers

  • Variety. No two weeks look the same. You will work across the whole stack and across our five service areas.
  • Automation-first ways of working. You will help build modern, AI-enabled practices from the ground up, rather than inheriting years of shortcuts.
  • Learning. Continuous improvement is part of the job, not an afterthought. You will grow quickly here because the work is broad and you will have real ownership.
  • A founder-led, small senior team. Short decisions, genuine responsibility, and the chance to help shape our story as we grow.
  • Modern tooling and a say in how we use it.

Why the work is rewarding

We work with WA businesses where we can make a real, measurable impact and move with speed. That makes for genuinely rewarding work.

  • A real sense of accomplishment.

You finish the week having shipped and fixed things that matter for customers, not stuck waiting on sign-off.

  • Customers who move fast.

Most of our customers like to move, so the work does too. You keep momentum and stay close to the next interesting problem.

  • The right customers, for the long term.

We are selective about who we work with, and we aim to serve them for years. You get to know their businesses deeply and your work compounds over time.
